Dear club member,

I hope you have all had a great summer and are getting ready for the new season that is just around the corner!  Club nights start on Monday 1st September and Friday 5th September (next week!!).  On Mondays the courts are available from 7.45 pm and on Friday from 8 pm.

At the AGM we made the decision to reduce the number of teams that we field as it was clear last year that we had too many teams.  So for this season we have the following teams:

Teams:

mens 1   ladies 1   mixed 1   NHL 1

mens 2   ladies 2   mixed 2

mens 3

mens 4

The NHL team is in a lower division and is primarily there for younger players and weaker adults within the club.

Reminder:  club fees are now due – see attached Banking Guide from Babu (club treasurer).  We are asking for fees earlier this year so that we know who to pick teams from.  It is very difficult for the selection committee if we don’t know who the members are until the beginning of October, when the first home matches will be on the 3rd October this year!

Club nights and match nights.  Last year we changed to having a club night (Monday) and a match night (Friday).   Club nights were well attended and people had good games etc, but there were some members who still wanted to have a 2nd club night on a Friday.  With the reduction in the number of teams, we can now do the following:

Mondays:  4 courts club night from September – end of January

Mondays:  2 courts club night February and March

Fridays:  2 courts club night September – end of April; summer club May onwards.

Matches:

Friday one home match each week all season (until end of April)

Mondays in February and March one home match each week.

There has been a rule change this year by the league, matches cannot be re-arranged, so please put match dates in your diary once you know them for the teams you are in.

I hope this will prove popular, builds on the success of Monday nights last year and we will hopefully have a great enjoyable season – we need to win some trophies this year – I did not enjoy giving out trophies to other clubs (especially Leys) last year and none to our club at the presentation evening…!!

Thanks

Mark
